Aviation writer, data analyst, author and publisher of Flightline
Greg Gayden has spent nearly 25 years working in commercial aviation security and regulatory compliance in the United States and abroad. His career has taken him from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to TSA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and to more than 200 airports across nearly 40 countries.
Greg Gayden is the founder and editor of Flightline, an independent commercial aviation publication covering airlines, airports, route development, aircraft, aviation safety, traffic performance and the business of air transport. The twice-weekly Flightline Briefing combines concise industry reporting with original analysis and data designed for aviation professionals and serious industry readers.
Before launching Flightline, Gayden built a long career in aviation security and regulatory oversight. He has worked for nearly 25 years as a Transportation Security Administration regulatory inspector, including international assignments involving foreign airports and air carriers. His work has included inspections and operational activity at more than 200 airports across nearly 40 countries, as well as assignments at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and TSA Headquarters. His international aviation work has taken him throughout North America, Central America, Europe and Asia, including more than 600 days working throughout Mexico.
That field experience informs his approach to aviation journalism. Flightline focuses on how airline networks, airport operations, regulatory requirements, passenger traffic, fleet decisions and security programs interact across the commercial aviation system. Flightline Intel extends that work through airport-level datasets, historical trends and operational tools assembled from TSA, FAA, BTS, NOAA and other public sources.

Gayden is the author of Commercial Aviation 101, an accessible guide to how the airline industry works. The book explains aviation security, regulation, aircraft and engines, airline economics, revenue management and the passenger experience.
Flightline Intel is Gayden's expanding aviation data platform. It brings together airport-level TSA screening totals, live aviation weather, airport market profiles, fuel trends and other operational datasets in one searchable resource. The project is designed to make fragmented public aviation information easier to use, compare and understand.
The platform reflects Gayden's broader publishing philosophy: pair practical industry experience with careful data work, then present the results in a form that is useful to aviation professionals, researchers, enthusiasts and informed travelers.
